March 7, 2006Has anyone or know of anyone who has taking a early Chevy 47-54 and swap the frame onto a 73-80 C10 chassis?

March 7, 2006Intresting question! I am under the impression that other than where the cab and box mount to the frame it should not be that much different. Other than that I can't see you having too much of a problem. You might want to check your wheel base and the distance between the front and rear axel to see if the measurements are the same. There must be someone on here that has done something like this. In my experience it seems that pretty much anything can be done with some patience and a little bit of money.......emphasis on the patience part! Hope that helps!
March 8, 2006I have heard of putting a 47-55 GM truck onto a S-10 frame. Haven't done it myself but have heard good results. Also not sure which S-10 was used. You have the choices of standard cab or Supercab, long bed or short bed, and a combination of those. Good luck!
March 8, 2006yeah, I've heard the S10 is the best for my project. I'm going to look around for another weekend or so, and see what I come up with.. if I can't find anything I think I"ll just replace my rearend and get adaptors for my lugs so I can have the same lug pattern all around and go from there.
March 8, 2006check e bay might find a s 10 there for sale
December 23, 2007Hey I am looking into putting my 51 CheVy Stepside body on an S-10 chassis. Did you have any success in finding the right chassis for your body? Which measurements are critical to sourcing the correct S-10?
December 23, 2007I ended up going with a Nova front clip.. I was told that u need a long bed S-10 in the 80's range but, no one in my area had ever done anything like that before and I found one guy that works in a custom shop and he installed the nova front clip for me.. he welded it in. I have had any problems with vibration or shaking or anything so, if ur don't mind cutting ur orignal chasis and u can find a front clip that may can be an option for u.
