November 22, 2002How much different are these trucks besides the grilles? The reason I'm asking is I have a 66 long bed, And I have a chance to get a 64 short bed. Can I put the cab and front end on the 64 frame to make a 66 short bed? Will this work with little trouble?

November 22, 2002I am pretty sure they are the same. Take a tape measure and go check out the other truck. I am sure they are close if not the same you can do a little fab work and get it to work.
November 24, 2002when Ford introduced the Twin I-beams in 1965, they changed the frames. Therefore, the cab mounts are different. You have probably noticed that you have more legroom in the 66. They lowered the floor in the 65-66 F100-F250 cabs. Now, the 4x4 and F350 on up use the 61-64 cab. The doors, hood, fenders, and beds will interchange.
May 28, 2012the only thing i know is 61 is a Unibody. Theywere produced 61 - 63. Only this style was the Unibody. The bed and cab are one piece. i remember a buddy of mine is looking for a tailgate for his 61 unibody truck..its diff from a standard truck..
